Accra, Ghana - 2026: As
digital payments continue to expand across African markets, securing the
systems, applications and infrastructure supporting payment transactions is
becoming increasingly important. Alongside this growth comes the need for
organizations and cybersecurity professionals to develop a deeper understanding
of evolving payment-security requirements and how they apply in practice.
Against this backdrop, QRC
Assurance And Solutions brought its Trust & Compliance Series 2026 to
Accra, Ghana, convening industry leaders and cybersecurity professionals
for focused discussions around the evolving PCI Security Standards
ecosystem, payment security and compliance challenges. The Accra edition
represented an important step in taking practical payment-security knowledge
closer to professionals operating within Ghana's growing digital ecosystem.
Building PCI Knowledge Closer
to the Market
Payment security extends beyond achieving compliance with a single standard. Organizations participating in today's interconnected payment ecosystem must consider how cardholder data is protected, how payment infrastructure is secured, how risks are identified and how security controls remain effective as technologies and threats evolve. The QRC Trust & Compliance Series in Accra was designed around this practical challenge. Through expert-led discussions and knowledge sharing, participants explored the evolving PCI landscape and the role security standards can play in strengthening payment environments and building greater cyber resilience.
Public participant commentary
following the workshop described it as an insightful and educational session
and the first PCI ecosystem session of its kind in Ghana - highlighting the
value of bringing specialized PCI knowledge directly into the local
cybersecurity community.
Expert-Led Conversations on
Payment Security
A central contributor to the Accra discussions was Vignesh Mudaliar, PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) and ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor, who shared his expertise with participating professionals. His involvement helped connect PCI requirements with the practical considerations organizations face while implementing and maintaining payment-security controls. The format encouraged participants to look beyond compliance as a periodic exercise and consider a more fundamental question: how can organizations use security standards to strengthen the way payment environments are governed and protected?
This distinction matters.
As one participant perspective following the workshop emphasized, security is increasingly a business imperative rather than simply a compliance checkbox. For organizations handling payment information, that means moving from preparing for an assessment toward maintaining security and compliance as an ongoing operational discipline.
Strengthening QRC's Engagement
in Ghana
The Accra edition also reflected QRC's growing engagement with Ghana's cybersecurity and compliance ecosystem. Abdul Karim Kamalideen, General Manager at QRC Assurance And Solutions, played a key role in driving the initiative and strengthening QRC's industry collaboration within Ghana. Working alongside QRC's technical specialists, the local leadership provides an important connection between global security standards and the realities faced by organizations operating within the Ghanaian market. The approach supports a wider objective behind the Trust & Compliance Series: global standards become more valuable when organizations have access to the local conversations, expertise and knowledge needed to put them into practice.
From Understanding Standards
to Strengthening Resilience
One of the wider messages
emerging from the Accra discussions is that payment security cannot be reduced
to passing an audit. Compliance provides an important structure, but
sustainable security requires organizations to understand their risks, maintain
effective controls and continually respond to changes across technologies,
threats and business environments.
PCI Security Standards can
therefore provide more than an assessment benchmark. When embedded effectively
into organizational processes, they can support stronger security governance,
better protection of payment environments and greater confidence across the
payment ecosystem.
Continuing the Trust &
Compliance Conversation in Ghana
The Accra edition demonstrated the value of bringing PCI Security Standards expertise, cybersecurity professionals and local industry perspectives together in the same room. For QRC, the objective extends beyond an individual workshop. Through continued knowledge-sharing initiatives and local industry collaboration, QRC Assurance And Solutions aims to help organizations and professionals strengthen their understanding of payment security and translate evolving compliance requirements into practical, sustainable security programmes.  The Trust & Compliance Series will continue to create opportunities for professionals to learn, exchange perspectives and strengthen cybersecurity and compliance capability across markets.
